Afterwards, travel 6.5 miles (13 min drive) to Mackenzie Hall (Mill Hill, Brockweir NP16 7NW) for the party.

The Christening and Birthday Party

As you may be aware, the original plan was a bigger, more traditional party to celebrate our wedding and combine it with William's christening and first birthday. We are scaling it back somewhat..... and yet William has somehow managed to wangle an entire party dedicated to him, so the day should feel a lot more low-key and relaxed. That's what kids' birthdays are like, right?

The general plan so far is to do the christening in the early afternoon in Tutshill, belt out some hymns, and then convoy down to party time at Brockweir where we will have tea, cakes, hog roast and drinks. It will be pandemonium but we can hopefully all get a chance to play games (we'll sort some grown-up ones out too), dance, have a laugh and photos together.

Brockweir - it's lovely there!

The Mackenzie Hall (NP16 7NW) is tucked away in the village of Brockweir, on the edge of the Wye River.

It is where we have spent many happy days walking as a family with cheese sandwiches and a flask of tea. It's pretty lovely.

Whilst it is a beautiful location, the roads to get there are narrow and parking is limited at the venue, so it could be a question of on-street parking along the country road, or at the eco-village shop further up the hill. However, it's a stone's throw from Tintern, Monmouth and Chepstow so taxi (tacsi in Welsh) may be a preferred option!

The nearest train station to the venue is in Chepstow, there are also regular National Express coaches to Chepstow too.

Oh William!

We'd love it if you could join us for William's christening and his first birthday, genuinely all we want is you to turn up and sing loudly!

On a birthday-related note, please don't feel the need to buy gifts; William already has everything he could possibly desire and he is having a whole party to himself. We'd much rather you treat yourself to a lush weekend in the Wye Valley.

If you can't resist and want to give William a little something, firstly- thank you so much! We'd love it if you could maybe give William a reading book- one that you love for any age in his life to come, with a little message from you in it. That would be very lovely and very appreciated. Alternatively, William has a premium bond account (497993731) so maybe a very modest gift to his future guitar fund could be an idea.

Genuinely though- if you come empty-handed having gone to a spa or a nice restaurant locally, you have our seal of approval.

We can't wait to see you all in a few weeks' time!
